IslaNOLA is a monthly pool party at the Drifter Hotel organized by Brandon Kafarela, Gabriel Burgos, Blaze Edwards, and Lenny Raney (Chinua the DJ) inspired by the mixed beats and cultures of hip-hop, Latinx, and Caribbean history that have shaped reggaeton music at dance parties called perreos. IslaNOLA is designed to create a chic, tropically-inspired atmosphere that is centered around the local queer, POC community of the city. IslaNOLA's mission is to provide an open-minded space for the Afro/Latinx community in the city of New Orleans, embracing the intersectionality of New Orleans’ island-like vibrancy and all of the colorful cultures in the city that bring this theme to life every day.
